Found Object Sculptures
Bosque
Bosque (Forest) is series of compositions with objects found in sensorial explorations through the natural-industrial-intermingled-watery areas of Huarte, Navarra, Spain. A forest of hybrid bodies that sprout from the confluence of remains of human and non-human constructions, of deconstructed machineries, of planted and synthetic architectures. Of materials that demonstrate their histories in their textures.
Installation at Centro Huarte (Pamplona).
Suck & Blow
Playing with found objects that suck, blow, transport, excrete. Re-connecting misfitted architectural intestines, mouths to throats. Ouroboros and snakes that call to cycles of consumption and waste. The architectural echoing the anatomical by way of the whimsical.
Useless Prosthetics
A series of discarded domestic and industrial waste objects find new animacy with the aid of specially fabricated “prosthetics.” The objects are interdependent with their fleshy counterparts, becoming a new whole in which each part relies on the other for its aliveness. The purpose of these prosthetics denies capitalist functionality, allowing the objects to enact a “useless,” solely pleasure-based existence.
Installation in abandoned TINCO Paint Factory, Barreiro, Portugal, using materials collected on-site: mattress foam, tubes, pipes, fabric. Made while in residency at PADA Studios.
Blush Baby
The creepy and the cute combine as found machine parts are “made over” to become a strange new creature, a feminized Frankenstein inhabiting space.
Part of group exhibition Vaig Nascer, Ja Senti, at PADA Gallery, Lisbon. Materials collected on site at Barreiro Industrial Park.
